El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como principal objetivo comprender los procesos de apropiación y significación en la obra urbana de graffitis del artista inglés Banksy debido a la propuesta artística-social que manifiesta y que se enmarca en el área de arte contemporáneo. Para comprender la esencia de su obra se pretende vincularlo con otras propuestas plásticas artístico-sociales del graffiti que a lo largo de la historia han consolidado esta nueva propuesta anónima y trasgresora en los espacios públicos urbanos. Obra cuyo principal interés es mostrar un contenido de carácter ideológico a la sociedad, valiéndose de la apropiación de elementos significativos e icónicos para estructurar el lenguaje creativo que le otorga validez. En este sentido se realiza una investigación que exponga la trayectoria artística de este popular graffitero de finales de los 80´s donde se analicen las fuertes críticas y sátiras sobre política, sociedad, cultura pop, consumismo, deterioro moral y ambiental que caracterizan su obra y realizar conexiones rizomáticas con la obra de otros artistas como Basquiat, en cuanto a su contenido temático, con Warhol, en el aspecto de apropiación y con Duchamp en lo que se refiere a la significación. El arte urbano de Banksy se manifiesta como una propuesta artística innovativa y creativa de las que destaca el uso de esténciles o plantillas, técnica muy usada por su homólogo francés Blek le Rat. Esta investigación pretende mostrar la propuesta apropiacionista de este artista del graffiti de destacadas obras de la historia del arte, así como la apropiación y resignificación de espacios públicos. Description An account of the resource The main objective of this study is to understand the appropriation and meaning processes in the urban graffiti work of the English artist Banksy. Due to the social-artistic proposal that is manifested, his work falls within the framework of the area of contemporary art. To understand the essence of his work, it is important to relate it to other plastic social-artistic proposals of the graffiti movement which throughout history have become consolidated in this new anonymous and transgressive expression in public urban spaces. The primary interest of these works is to show a content of ideological character to society, using the appropriation of significant and iconic elements to structure the creative language which gives it validity. It is with this in mind that research is conducted to expose the artistic trajectory of this popular graffiti artist from the late 80´s, analyzing the strong criticism of and satire on politics, society, pop culture, consumerism and moral and environmental deterioration that characterize his work. Also, rhizomatic connections are established with the work of other artists such as Basquiat, in thematic content, Warhol, in the aspect of appropriation and Duchamp, related to meaning. Banksy´s urban art is manifested as an innovative and creative proposal in which stencils or templates are used, a technique much utilized by the Frenchman Blek le Rat. This study proposes to show the path of appropriation of this graffiti artist, author of outstanding historical works of art, as well as the appropriation and resignification of public places.
